Our Camp

We recently had our school camp at Murchison and we learnt all about the history and we went and did some really cool activities. We went on the buller gorge jet boating, the comet line (zip line), NZ's longest swing bridge and rafting down the river. My favorite activity was was the jet boating because we did lots of like 360's in the water and donuts. We stayed in Murchison for 4 days. I had a few questions before we went on camp and answered them all when i got back. Here is link to poster. The Link. 

We stayed in tents at a motor home and in my tent we had 5 kids and an adult. For dinner the first night we had bacon and egg pie and salad it was awesome because of the bacon ;) The second night we had all the kids into groups and cook our own meals plus the adults ones. We had been practicing for a while to know exactly how to cook our food. For my group we cooked Pumpkin soup for the entree and for the main we had tacos and the dessert we had pancakes with cream and jelly. Here is the menu we made. Menu.

I would love to go on camp again but next year i am going to high school so this was my last camp.

My week end

On the week end me and my family went camping up at Waipara. When we arrived we put up our tents and then because we were only there for a round about 24 hours we went swimming at a lagoon. The water was really deep in the middle like I couldn't swim to the bottom. There was 3 rope swings and a water slide. Soon it became night so we made dinner but my dad forgot the fry pan for the gas cooker, so we cooked sausages on a stick over the flames of the camp fire. Then we did the same with some marshmallows. In the morning we packed up everything and went back to the lagoon for one last swim. after that we went home. 

My experience with the earth quake

I was sound asleep in my bed when suddenly I heard a creak from the wall and the ground underneath me started to move, my bed, swaying from side to side gently. My wardrobe was swinging open and close and other cupboards were shutting and closing. I sat there in silence for twenty ish seconds and it didn't stop it just keep going. I got out of my bed struggling to stand up straight. and slowly walked over to the door and opened it and leaned against the door way until the shaking stopped.

Pet Day

In the first week back into term 4 my school is having a pet day where we bring all of our pets. I am bringing  rabbit. We have to do a pet project like explain all the stuff about our pets and what they do.

Olympic Commentary

My class had to pretend that we were commentators from sports games or horse races and write what we think would happen in a Olympic event. Hope you like it :)

Welcome back to another breath taking event, the 100m sprints, in the 2016 Olympics with Usain Bolt in lane four, the previous world record holder. I’m expecting big things from this guy. Over in lane one, Alex Manner, who has recently recovered from a sprained hamstring. In lane two, we have Sam Blake from Canada. Three, we have Donny Matt from NZ.  Five, we have Samuel Matt from Ireland. Over in lane six, we have Brad Pitt from USA. Seven we have Benjiman Hut from Germany. The last in lane eight, we have Noah Sparks from Argentina.

All competitors are lined up, bent down, waiting. The hundreds of thousands of people watching on are building up the suspense.  Ready… GO! Thier off! Donny’s behind Alex, Alex is Coming in on the outside of Sam, Whittwickey is chasing down Noah, Benjiman is behind Blake and Blake is behind Usain Bolt but only just. Side by side. Bolts in front by a foot now. What a nail biting sight. Coming up on the final 30 metres and Bolt is taking the lead with a sudden burst of speed. This just goes to show that we have no idea what Bolt has in store, and he has done it! Bolt has set a new world record time of 9.55 seconds. The crowd is going crazy at this once in a lifetime sight.

Welcome back to term three

I have made this recount on one of the things I did in the holidays. Read it then comment below where I was and I will tell you if your correct.

As I got out of the car, the smell of chlorine filled my nostrils. “ I love the smell of chlorine” I said to myself with a smile. I stood in front of the door and it magically slid open, it made me feel as if I had powers and could pull apart objects. I walked through the hallways and into the changing rooms.

After that I walked out and looked at all the water, I was one of the only ones there. I couldn't help myself I just had to dive in, the feel of the cold water rushing over my body as I swam deeper and deeper until I could touch the ground of the shallow end, then I pushed of the slippery surface and jumped out of the water like a dolphin.

I went into the little kids swimming area and saw my little sister and my mum splashing in the water having a great time. I took my sister into a little bit bigger swim area and I held my sister and swam around with her. A huge smile appeared on her face and she was giggling away. I put her back in the kiddy area with my mum and went off to the deeper end. It was three meters deep! I decided to test my self and swim all the to the bottom and let my cheek touch the ground and then swim back up. I did it.

I swam around for a couple of hours until finally it was time to go.

Disco Fever

On Thursday the 7th of July my school is having a disco and room 5 is hosting it and the theme is winter, some of the little kids are coming as frozen characters and who knows what the older ones will be coming as. In the hall there will be lights and loud music and stuff for sale like drinks and food. The best dancer gets a prize. I haven't been to a disco in so long its going to be so fun.  

Rugby tournament

On Tuesday the 28th of June me and a couple of other people from my class are going to compete in a rugby tournament. I am really looking forward to this because I used to play rugby and I was pretty good. I will put up the scores later once its finished

ShantyTown

On Wednesday 22 th of June we went to Shantytown. We learnt a lot about the olden days and how life was much more tougher than today's world, and all the boys learnt to be polite by waiting for the lady's to go first and tipping our hat to them. We dressed up as people from 1886 and went around the town and looked at all the old buildings. We also went gold panning and most of us found real gold! We all had an amazing time in the class room with the teachers Miss Barber and Miss Meres, from them we learnt about Queen Victoria and the saying, Manners Maketh The Man. We went on a tram and took lots of cool photos of us with props in the old buildings such as an old bar, barber and much much more. Also we went to a saw mill and watched a video of people working back in 1886, I noticed that they weren't wearing any safety equipment, no safety glasses, no hard hats nothing, so people got badly injured a lot and sometimes died and when you hit the age of 12 that's when you would leave school and go work in a saw mill or other stuff. We all learnt a lot and had an amazing experience and would definitely go back again.

El Gregoe

Today on Monday the 20th of June at 1:30 The famous magician EL GREGOE is coming to our school to preform magic tricks for us. I have seen him many times before and my favourite one is where he has a painting of a dove and he shakes it and the dove comes out of the painting and is no longer on the frame. Our school is really exicted.

Being safe online.

My class has been learning how to keep them self safe online. We learnt not to trust people we don't know because they could not be who they are in real life and only post what we are comfortable with posting because some weird old/girl guy could stalk you. I found it challenging to come up with all the words and the script for the comic.

In school we have been learning how to keep our self safe online. We learnt what and what not to share online like personal stuff. We made a comic and it will be coming soon.

Cross Country

On Tuesday 17th our school is going to cross country. The year 4's  have to run 1km. The year 5's and 6's have to run 2km and the year 8's and 7's have to run 3km. I am looking forward to cross country because I can run long distances for long periods of time.

Soccer tournament

On Wednesday  the 11th of May some students from my school are going to compete in a soccer tournament. The students competing are Chris,Ashleigh, Max, Noah, Georgia, Mia, Myah, Hayley, Cameron, Damon, Jacob, Sarah and I.

Learning Area and Perimeter

In week one of school we learned about area and perimeter. We learned how to used area and perimeter for different shapes.
Area is when you times the lengh by the hight, and perimeter is when you add up all the sides.

welcome back to term 2

Hello and welcome back to term 2.
In the  holidays i went to Christchurch to see some of my family and one of my dads friends was having a house warming party and we went and stayed the night at his house.
This term i am looking forward to cross country because i like running.

Touch typing progress

At school we have been doing touch typing to help us type. I have been learning to type faster and keep all of my fingers on the home keys. My goal is to get perfect on all 21 levels perfect score by the end of  term one.
